CATS AND COLORED REGIONS
One cat must occupy each row, column and colored region in Catdoku while staying separate from every neighboring cell. This logic puzzle replaces numbers with visual clues and asks you to compare the available spaces across the board. Each confirmed placement can remove nearby possibilities and reveal where another cat has to go.
Read The Board Carefully
Every open space has to follow several rules at once. A horizontal row can contain only one cat and a vertical column can also contain only one cat. Colored regions use the same requirement so a valid placement must work for its row column and region together.
The Aloof Rule adds another layer to each decision. Cats cannot touch horizontally, vertically or diagonally. When a cat is placed the surrounding cells become unavailable which can narrow the remaining choices in several parts of the grid. Smaller regions with fewer open cells can be useful places to begin because they may show a forced placement sooner.
MARK AND PLACE EACH CAT
Use Click to set X in a tile after ruling out that position. Press on the same cell again to erase the mark when new information changes the deduction. Double click an open cell to place a cat after checking the row column colored region and all neighboring spaces.
X marks help keep the board clear as more cats appear. Mark impossible positions right away so it is easier to see when a row column or colored region has one available cell left. After placing a cat, scan the affected row column region and diagonal neighbors again because a single choice can create new restrictions.
Check The Aloof Rule
The neighboring cells around every confirmed cat are just as important as the larger row and column rules. A cat may fit inside a colored region but still be invalid if it touches another cat on a diagonal. Reviewing these nearby cells after each placement prevents conflicts before they spread across the board.
FROM COMPACT BOARDS TO LARGER GRIDS
Catdoku starts with compact beginner boards that introduce the main rules through manageable layouts. Later puzzles use larger grids with winding regions and more connections between open spaces. The goal remains unchanged but each board requires more comparisons before a placement can be confirmed.
Daily challenges add fresh cat themed logic boards for those who want new puzzles and faster solving times. The information on the board is enough to guide every placement when X marks and confirmed cats are tracked consistently.
Build Each Solution Step By Step
The most reliable approach is to work from the tightest available spaces. Check which rows, columns or regions have the fewest open cells then eliminate positions that break the neighboring rule. Update the board after every confirmed cat instead of treating each clue separately.
Catdoku combines its visual regions with a strict set of placement rules that reward careful deduction. Begin the next board and map every cat in Catdoku.
